How to choose childcare
You can find registered childcare services in Birmingham using our childcare directory.
You can enter your postcode or select a type of childcare provider, and the directory will provide you with a list of childcare providers.
We also recommend making appointments to visit two or three providers to compare their services and their differences.

The setting must be registered with Ofsted.
Childcare settings are inspected by Ofsted when they register. This is to make sure they meet the safety, learning, and development requirements. This inspection report is not published.

Childminders
A childminder will look after your child in their own home, but they will also take your child out regularly.
Childminders are self-employed, so services, fees, and opening times vary.
Ofsted requires everyone over 16 years old who lives in a childminder's home must have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Before a childminder is registered with Ofsted, they must attend training. Some childminders also have qualifications.
