Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)

Following the Examination and approval at Full Council in September 2015, we commenced charging our CIL on Monday 4 January 2016.

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge on new buildings in England and Wales. It has been put in place to ensure that certain types of new development contribute to the city infrastructure. This infrastructure will support the growth aspirations for Birmingham as outlined in the Birmingham Development Plan which includes proposals for over 50,000 new homes and 100,000 new jobs.

All information about our CIL Examination, the Examiner’s Report, and associated documents can be found on our dedicated CIL Examination page.

From Monday 2 November 2015, all application forms have required a CIL Additional Information Form.
