A new beginning

The problem

In early 2024, Z. a young mother of two in her twenties, was facing homelessness. We initially offered her a temporary solution by housing her in a hotel to guarantee her safety.

We also informed her that the mandatory referral process to find a home could take up to three years.

Understanding Z.'s uncertainty and urgency for housing we intervened immediately to offer support. Within hours of initiating the referral process, Z. received a call from a member of our team.

The team member presented Z. with a surprising opportunity: a two-bedroom house in Hartlepool, offering a new beginning. Z. was initially concerned about the distance and location but was convinced by the logistical and moral support offered.

The impact

Less than a month after her initial request, Z and her children arrived at their new home, greeted by the landlord who facilitated their settlement.

Adapting to a new environment was not simple however, Z. quickly found support by the local community.

Today, Z. and her children continue to thrive in their new surroundings, enjoying the benefits of affordable living, community support, and the promise of a brighter future ahead.
